Self-Reflection

Mick was a young man who possessed very little. He had little cash, car, or current employment. He possessed only love and hope. John was an older man who had much wealth but was missing something that wealth cannot buy, love.

Mick and John met one day at a local coffee shop and began to have a conversation as they waited for their hot beverage. Thereafter, each left with a coffee in hand. They began to individually think. Mick knowing that John was a wealthy man believed that John could help him become successful. Likewise, John knew that Mick didn’t have any assets but possessed love. He too felt that he could help Mick become successful.

As fate would have it, Mick and John met again one early morning. They met in the same coffee shop that they had previously purchased a coffee. Mick with a smile on his face says, good morning! John returning a smile says the same. Simultaneously, they sit at a small table without thought process, as if it were destined to be.

The two began to talk and laugh. Time passed as it is now an hour later. They got up to leave and upon reaching the door, Mick turned to John and said shall we meet here again tomorrow morning at the same time? John with a smile says, yes we shall.

Several days later John noticed Mick picking up aluminum cans on the side of the road. The mystery of how Mick could afford a daily coffee was now solved. The following morning as the two sat at the same table, John decided he was going to back Mick on starting a recycling business. One year later, the two meet at the same time at the same small table in the coffee shop they first met.

The greatest possession one has is love. It is a gift that was never intended to be unshared. Hope is realized by love which brings about change in ones circumstances, life, and path.
